My first car

This photo was taken when I was 18 years old and I bought my first car. I’d just passed my driving test and I’d been saving up for two years so it was a really exciting day. The car was second-hand and didn’t have any high-tech gadgets, but I was very proud of it and I used to drive my friends and family around everywhere. One summer, we spent a whole month on the road. We took the tent with us, and drove wherever we liked – to national parks, mountains, forests, beaches ... it was fantastic! Although the car was old, it was really reliable and hardly ever broke down. Unfortunately, four years later another car crashed into me while I was driving and my car was so badly damaged that it couldn’t be repaired.  Luckily, I wasn’t hurt, but I was really upset about the car and I still have fond memories of it today.

Can you remember your first car? Did you take any special trips in it?

Holidays

These are some of my holiday photos. The first picture was taken when I went on a city break to Bilbao in Spain and visited the Guggenheim Museum, where you can see some amazing modern paintings and sculptures. I spent the whole weekend sightseeing, which was very enjoyable but absolutely exhausting. I really loved the delicious Spanish food and since I came back, I have learnt to cook paella. The second picture is of a villa in Greece which my friends and I rented last summer. We sunbathed every day and we often swam in the pool. By the end of the holiday, I was quite tanned, but not as tanned as my best friend! Every evening we went to a local restaurant to have dinner and then we usually went to a nightclub to dance all night long. I really enjoyed both of the holidays but I think I preferred my holiday in Greece because the weather was beautiful and it was so relaxing. I would go again if I could!

What about you? Which type of holiday do you prefer and why?

Barcelona Football Club

This picture shows the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona. Barça are my favourite team because I’ve lived in Barcelona all my life. In 2010, I saw them play against Real Madrid in ‘El Clásico’. The stadium is huge and the crowd were so noisy! Barcelona fans are very proud of their team and their city. We had great seats and we were sitting really near the pitch. The match was incredible because the players were so skilful and they scored some fantastic goals. In the end, Barça won 5-0! I think they’re the best team in the world. The tickets for the stadium are expensive, but if I have enough money, I’ll go and watch them again this year.

Which sports team or sportsperson do you most admire? Why?

A frightening experience

In this photo, you can see some mountains and lots of people are skiing. It’s very snowy and cold. Last year, I learnt to ski. The mountain was very high and I was really frightened before the first lesson! My teacher’s name was Adam. He was American and he was very kind. At first, it was very difficult and I often fell over. But I had a lesson every day and I really started to enjoy it. After a week, I wasn’t scared and I could ski slowly down the mountain. It was very exciting and I might go again next year!

Have you ever had a frightening experience? What happened?

The Story Behind the Photo

Ben’s photo

I took this photo in Patagonia in Argentina in 2008. The two narrow peaks that you can see are called Fitzroy and Cerro Torre. We had spent a few weeks trekking around that area and this was the end of the last day of our trip. We were driving back on that desolate highway, and the light was dying when I caught a glimpse of the mountain range in the rear view mirror and I thought, “I just need to take one last photo of that horizon”. It turned out to be the best photo I took on that whole trip

Can you guess why it’s important to me or what it says about me?
